What does it look like when a democracy works? What does good look like?

Getting Our Bearings

Why do we need a new course of action? Public health is in shatters; divisiveness is at an all time high; environmental degradation continues; trust in our political leaders is worse than ever; and, so on. The claims of pundits and politicians have also led us astray. It does not serve a new direction to rankle over what is not working and who did what to who.

We need a new strategy. Let us be more clear and grounded about what is defined as "good" in the public sphere. It is possible to unite our understanding.

Overtime, we hope social fieldwork will catch on. We hope more and more people will start doing social fieldwork. Social fieldwork is democracy's groundwork.

We know the problem. We don't need to keep analyzing and exposing. We just have to figure out something better.

The issues we tackle are systemic – failure of democracy, divisiveness, public health crisis, drug abuse, amorphous notions of quality of life and environmental degradation. These all have roots in the economic construct governing public decision making.

So, where else could we head instead if our economic constructs more accurately reflected reality? How could we better set our course bearings?
